Creation Genesis 1:1

Today I would like to talk to you about the beginning. In our everyday experience, just about everything seems to have a beginning. In fact the laws of science show that things that look the same through our lifetime are running down; like the sun and the stars. The sun is using up millions of tons of fuel each second. Scientist know that stars are continually burning out. So, if something can't last forever it means it had to have a beginning.

In the Bible, Gen. 1:1 tells us that, "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth." The first question for some is, "Who created God?" Gen. 1:1 in no way tries to imply that God had a beginning. The Bible makes it clear that God is outside of time. He is eternal, with no beginning or end. God is infinite. What evidence would we expect to find if God really is infinite and created all things as the Bible claims? How would we recognize the handiwork of an all-powerful (omnipotent) creator? According to the Bible, God knows all things- He is omniscient! He is infinitely intelligent! To see His handiwork we have to recognize the evidence of the works of His intelligence.

Scientist become excited to find stone tools together with bones in a cave because they know the tools did not create themselves. There had to be intelligent creatures to make the tools. No one would conclude that an explosion in a brick factory would form the Great Wall of China, the Capitol building in Washington D.C. or the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Neither would anyone believe that the Presidents' heads on Mt. Rushmore were products of millions of years of erosion.

We recognize design, the evidence of the out workings of intelligence. Design is everywhere. If you had each precise piece of a watch and put them all in a bag and shook it up, no matter how many times you stuck your hand in you would never pull out a watch. As the watch implies a watchmaker, so too does design in living things imply a Designer.

Humanism, the central philosophy of our schools and society, teaches that man is above all else, that he alone is the center of meaning. Teaching that man has meaning totally apart from God, humanism leaves morality, justice and behavior to the discretion of "enlightened" man and encourages people to worship man and nature rather than God. Living without God's divine truth, humanity sinks lower and lower in depravity, blindly following a philosophy that intends to heighten the dignity of man, but which instead lowers him to the level of animals. Rather than a spiritual and emotional being, man has been classified as merely a natural phenomenon of time plus chance, no greater than rocks, animals or clouds. The Apostle Paul described this foolish and demeaning perspective of man in Romans 1:20-25.

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen."

Our schools are teaching our children a theory with no physical evidence to back it up, and which defies the laws of nature. The Bible says they exchanged the truth of God for a lie. God has given us, as parents, the responsibility to teach our children the truth. Today some people continue to reject God's truth and offer of salvation through Jesus Christ. Some choose instead to trust in their own success and the opinion of others for a sense of self-worth. The Scriptures clearly teach that apart from Christ, man is enslaved to sin and condemned to an eternity in Hell. If you haven't made the most important decision of your life, choose today to stand on God's truth and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Romans 10: 9-10 says, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
